  Round Back BinderProduction Checklist

Use this easy 7-point checklist when designing your next binder project.

Checkbox Style – round or square spine?
A square spine offers a more traditional look, while a round spine is eye-catching and functional. Round spines fit the user’s hand easily, take up less shelf space and are visually distinctive, especially important when your binder is shelved with those from competitors!

Checkbox Format – standard or custom?
Standard binders hold 8-1/2" x 11" materials including standard tab dividers. Binders can be designed to accommodate custom sized materials. They are also available as a portfolio or easel binder.

Checkbox Cover and Liner Material options
FlexHinge Binders can be offset printed and laminated or covered in a wide variety of fabrics. Because covers and liners are printed on the same press sheet, there is no additional charge for printing the inside liner. Fabric binders can be printed, foil stamped or debossed.

Checkbox Printed Binder Finish
Offset printed FlexHinge Binders are laminated with your choice of gloss, semigloss or matte film laminations. A textured "linen" finish is an option available on all lamination films. Binders must be laminated to protect the printed surface, eliminate litho crack and wear on corners. Lamination not only protects the binder, it enhances color and graphics.

Checkbox Ring Size and Style
Please note that when pricing and producing FlexHinge Binders, we refer to ring size—not spine size. If you know roughly how many pages your binder will hold, check the ring capacity chart to determine which ring size you’ll need. D-Rings hold more pages and allow paper to lie flat — an important consideration when working with large binders. When a binder has a square spine, round rings are mounted on the spine and D-rings are mounted on the back cover, next to the spine. With round spine binders, all rings are mounted on the back cover. Three-ring mechanisms are standard. Custom ring sizes, styles and colors are available, but require extra production time and are subject to manufacturer’s availability.

Checkbox Printing Specifications
We need to know how many ink colors you will be printing. Our pricing is based on the total number of ink colors printed on the cover and liner. FlexHinge Binders are offset printed on our 6-color MAN Roland 700 press, so graphic design opportunities are unlimited and the quality of the finished product is superb. You may choose to simply reproduce a logo in one PMS color or to reproduce photographic images in four-color process. You can enhance certain areas and design elements with spot gloss UV coating to make those areas really "pop". And because the binder covers and liners are printed on the same press sheet, liners can be printed for no additional charge.

Checkbox Artwork Preparation
When you are ready to prepare artwork for your binder, we will email a binder template to you. Everything is measured and explained to make artwork preparation easy.

BINDER DESIGN TEMPLATES
We take the guesswork out of preparing artwork. No measuring or math is needed to create a Corporate Image project! We do that for you and will email a design template when you are ready to start the design process. The template is a Photoshop™ TIFF file and is used as a non-printing layer in graphic design software applications. Just place the template, get creative, then send us the files. We’ll send a proof for your approval before proceeding to press.
