Our Community Des Moines, Iowa, sits right in the middle of flyover country. Roughly two hours east of Omaha, three hours north of Kansas City, four hours south of Minneapolis and six hours west of Chicago. You can’t get anymore Midwestern than that. Des Moines is a pretty place, not flat and windswept, but green and rolling. Minutes west of downtown, you’ll find tree-lined grand old neighborhoods. Drive a little longer, and you’ll find miles of suburban developments and shopping malls. There’s roughly half a million of us here. We even have rush hour traffic jams and a rapidly changing skyline. Corporate citizens like Meredith Publishing, The Principal Financial Group, and Wells Fargo are changing the face of this city. All of downtown is pretty much under construction, and a vibrant new city is emerging. Des Moines is not exactly what you might expect. Kind of like Corporate Image.
